bought hem through cardrunners and ive tried everything and cant seem to get hem working with windows 7 ive followed all the faq's disabled all firewalls run as administrator on all the .exe's started the server via adminstritive tools it keeps (switching back to stop)
But keep getting errors in hem it will not import hands Auto or otherwise if i point it to a directory with hh it just says 1522 file to import then does nothing. sometimes it will say cant connect to 120.0.0.1 or whatever the adress is and sometimes it comes up with a dialog box with this in it when navigating the tabs in hem

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

It seems you experience every common problem caused by Microsoft and PostgreSQL.

"point it to a directory with hh it just says 1522 file to import then does nothing. sometimes it will say cant connect to 120.0.0.1 or whatever the adress is and sometimes it comes up with a dialog box with this in it when navigating the tabs in hem"

You can click on all text below to be redirected to solution topic:

The can't connect to 120.0.0. is a PostgreSQL connection problem (http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?t=8261)

The secondary logon service must be started (http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?t=21121)

Install Microsoft .Net Framework 4 beta 2 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9F5E8774-C8DC-4FF6-8285-03A4C387C0DB&displaylang=en)

And make sure you have an archive folder setup properly in your "setup auto import folders"

thanks for the quick response.
Ive tried all that stuff but sill having troubles ive turned off windows firewalls and tried uninstalling Kasperky 2010 it wont allow be to saying i must close down all programs that are blocking connection to local area connection ? could this be part of my trouble ive even tried deleting my database to do a full reinstall but it wont let me log on telling me that the server is not listening ? should i just go back to vista ?

(ok it seems to "keep stopping the service" every time i try to import i go to admin tools-services-postgres.. and start it but everytime i try to import it stops the service) ..im so confused

Ok never mind after hours of re-installing everything and messing around with shit i didn't even know what it does it seem it was windows defender that was causing me all the headaches i have now turned it off and everything is great

I guess now my computer is very vulnerable. im not a huge security guy but i feel a little exposed? is it safe to leave windows firewall off and windows defender? could someone give me a heads up about theese two programs and how i can use hem safely while still being protected

Thanks in advance

Being protected from what?
Windows Defender, Windows User Account Control, and Windows Firewall (and Norton Antivirus) are the most obnoxious, annoying programs on the planet.

But you're free to use all of them, just make sure you have postgreSQL, hmhud.exe, hmcontrolpanel.exe holdemmanager.exe and port 5432 on every exceptions list of those programs so they can't interfere.

I actually have Windows Firewall turned ON myself... but Windows Defender is completely useless.

Replace Defender?
Microsoft already replaced it...! :)

"On 1 September 2009, Microsoft released Microsoft Security Essentials, a freeware anti-malware product. Microsoft Security Essentials supersedes Windows Defender as it covers a broader range of malware. Future releases of Microsoft Security Essentials are expected to completely disable Windows Defender."

Other alternatives: AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, Ad-Aware 2009 8.1, Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6, Hitman Pro 3.5.
