I bought a new computer a few months ago and starting about a month ago my comp has started to free in the middle of playing while HEM and the hud is running. I've done everything standard that a freeze would usually be caused by and nothing has helped. It only happens while HEM hud is running tho. My database is pretty big(~47k players and >150k hands) but I have 8 gigs of ram so there is no way that is what could be causing it.

Any suggestions as to why this might be happening..? It's obv very annoying.

It certainly isn't the size of your DB causing the problems. Does it work fine if you use HM but close the HUD?

What Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Under Vista and Windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73 or else you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab. Windows 7 you MUST set all the executables to always run as admin.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Make sure your video card drivers and windows auto updates are fully updated. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (or later for w7) installed.

Pretty sure it has never froze when only HEM is running but it isn't often that I only have HEM running without the HUD anyways.

Make sure your video card drivers and windows auto updates are fully updated. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (or later for w7) installed.

My operating system is Vista 64-bit, I'm running windows firewall, and using AVG Anti-Virus software. I also us CCcleaner and Spybot search and destroy for malware, spybot, and registry cleaning.

I am updated to the latest beta and my UAC is off.

There is an exception to my windows firewall for HEM and I don't have a 3rd party firewall.

Video card drivers are updated and so are windows updates. I have that Microsoft Framework too.

Does it happen if the HUD and Table Manager are closed?

Does it happen every session, so that it is easy to reproduce?

Enable logging from the HUD options->Table prefs menu. When the crash happens again, go immediately to the \logs\log.txt file and move it to another location before you restart the hud. I want to get the 'crash' log.txt file after you finish playing. If you restart the hud before moving the log.txt file, it is overwritten.

Please email them to mike@holdemmanager.net, with a link to this thread.

It doesn't happen every session and only when the HUD/Table Manager are on.

So next time it happens you want me to restart my comp because it is frozen then go straight to the log file and email them to you? If that's correct, I'll do that next time it happens.

Yes. Make sure you Enable Logging under HUD Options > Tables Preferences. Make sure you get the log file before you start HM back up, or it will over-write the hud log you just created.

Any update on this?

It happened again yesterday so I took it into a local computer store. They checked everything including hardware and came up with nothing. It has to be a software issue.

I had an issue just like this about a year ago. Everything worked fine on my PC, but HEM kept crashing. I guess my problem was a little different in that it's causing your PC to crash too, but bad ram can do this.

I'd double check your RAM. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out but it ended up being a bad stick of RAM. I also highly doubt the PC repair shop did this test when looking at your PC. They probably just ran a generic benchmark program.

It isn't bad ram.

The HUD developer is at a loss as to why this is happening. His only suggestion is to offer you a refund.

That is not necessary. I still can use it for stats and everything for myself but I have found out that it isn't a problem with HEM because my computer is continuing to freeze when HEM is not running. It even freezes when I am just doing stuff on the internet...

Not sure what to do to fix it but thanks for offering to refund when you thought it was HEM causing it.

@Matix - then it is a operating system or hardware problem. If you cant fix it with a complete operating system reinstall you should try to diagnose your hardware (RAM, harddisk....)

@christ11 - we had a virus false positive issue in some Betas. Please use 1.09.03 http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate.exe. If you still get virus warnings its possibly because of cached files - you can delete the files where your virusscanner detects problems.
If this doesn't help please give us more details about your system
