View Full Version : Importing Hands Twice

I recently formatted my computer, re-installing HEM while backing up my database and restoring it. Since then, I have noticed that some hands get imported twice when I am playing. Not all hands do interestingly though. Usually only the last 20-50 hands played get imported twice, depending on how long my session was, I think.
Any ideas what the problem is? And how I can solve it.

Thanks

I think theres something wrong with your auto-import and archive settings.

If you can't figure it out on your own please attach the file holdemmanager.config to your answer.

I checked my settings and can't find any problem that I can see. I have attached the file holdemmanager.config

Move the gamehistory.dat in the handhistory folder to your \hmarchive folder and import them via import file or import from folder/file.

Try a new session with auto-import. A new handhistory file should be generated.

Ok, I moved the gamehistory.dat file to my \hmarchive folder. I am wondering though, surely if I import them via import file as directed above, then I will be importing every single hand I have ever played into my database again. Thus meaning I will have two copies of all my hands in my database..

HM knows if they are duplicates and will not reproduce the results.

As I suspected, this duplicated every hand in my database thank you very much. My whole database is now screwed. What am I supposed to do?

I'm thinking the best option is to start a new database, but can I keep all the data I've mined from opponents, so that I still access this data while playing?

Then your DB had problems and a new DB is in order. I can import the same files, or new files containing hands that are already in my DB, and HM will skip over them quickly without duplicating the results.

Yes, the vast majority of mined data should import again just by importing your \HMArchive and any other old files, and any exported hands.

*Try creating a new UTF DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=146
*Now import a small portion of your \HMArchive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173
*If the new DB seems to work properly, you will want to import the rest of your archives to the new DB, export/import the hands from the old DB to the new DB, and export/import any player notes and tourney summaries - and then delete the old DB. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=21

Make sure you export/backup everything before deleting the old DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20754

If you play a site like stars/ftp you can email their support and ask for all your old hand histories and tourney summaries.

I have created a new database and imported all my hands. Everything looks to working OK at the moment. I noticed I have lost all of my player notes though. How can I transfer these across?

It is explained/linked in the backup sticky in my previous post. The notes are part of the DB so you need to export/import them.

......

You want to make sure you backup your Processed/Archived hand histories, your entire \config folder, and your exportednotes file. http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/?f=119. I usually just copy my entire \Holdem Manager directory.
