Which operating system? Vista - UAC should be switched off

Please make sure that your windows is uptodate (Service Pack Level and Windows Update) and Microsoft redistributable packages are installed.

You should also try to install the latest Postgresql 8.4 - this version is much smarter during the installation.

That is how the restore process works, and why I would rather just import my old files. It gives no indication that it is still working, even if it is. All you can do is wait. The bigger the backup, the longer the wait.

You either need a .backup file, your old \postgresql\8.x\data folder (which may be quite large), or you need the hand histories to import. If you play at a site like ftp/stars you can email their support and ask them to send you all your hand histories and tourney summaries, and import those.

Here are my normal backup steps. Your original hands (\HMArchive) should always be backed up. I also export my DB to text files as a 2nd level backup.
