Hey everyone,

I have tried everything I can find to fix this problem but my postgre service just wont start . I am running XP so thought there shouldnt be so many problems installing this.

If anyone can help I would be very grateful!

Are you having installation problems or was it already running before?

Please give us some more details, error messages.
Are you using a 3rd party firewall - which one?

I havent had it working at all yet, I have no firewall running and I have tried installing it a few times now.

It gives me a error message about being unable to connect to host . I can copy and paste it in if you need it

Thanks again

What anti-virus and firewall? Try uninstalling them for now and reboot. Turn off windows firewall if it is on. Make sure no other security software is running.

reinstall sql:

If you still cant connect, this is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it, and reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) reinstall the same version of postgresql, using the same \data folder - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177
3) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If none of that helps I wouldnt know what to suggest other than a support session with our support manager.
