View Full Version : Weird performance problem

Upgraded to postgres 8.4 / UTF recently and been doing regular maintenance on my db since and was very happy with the overall performance increase...

I then upgraded from beta 40 to 1.09 and a few sessions later I realized that while my main view is still lightning fast even while fetching loads of stats, the hand view tages AGES to even get 100 hands.

I already exported all my hands via the dbase control panel and that went at the usual speed as well.

Unfortunately I dont have the beta40 install file anymore, so I cant test if downgrading solves the performance issue. However changelog wise that is unlikely I think.

Do I have any play except starting a new dbase and reimporting everything?

thx in advance for any help

I would suggest you do the majority of the things in this thread: http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11194

Some of the most important things, imo:

- Remove the WinnerName, WinnerCards and WinnerWon from the Options > Hands View Column Selector
- Turning off logging and deleting existing logs
- Vacuum/Full/Analyze, then Reindex - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=163
- Defrag last and make sure you stop the postgresql service before you defrag. I personally use Smart Defrag.
- Do a Cold Boot (Shut Down > Start) before you use HM again
