Hi,

I don't know why but since today, HM doesn't succeed in being connected to PostgreSQL.
I have installed the last patch of HM with no success.

This is the message :

The following error occured when trying to open the database : Failed to establish a connection to "127.0.0.1".

Then I click OK and HM open a window "Connect to PostgreSQL".
Server Name, Port Number, Login Name and password are allready fill in with the right information.

I click connect and nothing happen.

The only change I can see : I used Defraggler to defrag my hard drive but this is not the first time I do this.

Thank you for your help.

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it, and reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) reinstall the same version of postgresql, using the same \data folder - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177
3) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help you will probably have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely and reimport your hands.

Thanks for your help Fozzy.

Unfortunately, nothing worked.

I therefore uninstalled everything and re-installed postgreSQL 8.3 then HM.
I had made sure that HM makes raw archives, but only for 2009...
Sad...

Did you ever have the archive setup anywhere else? The archive used to not organize them by year/date/month until this past May. Search your computer for any other \hmarchive folders or similar history file types?

Assuming you play at FTP/Stars you can email their support and ask for all of your old hand histories and tournament summaries to import.
