Which HM version?
Which operating system?
Is it reproducable? If you have only 1 monitor its ok, if you add the 2nd in another mode its ok?

One of users from my forum made a kind of research:
He has 2 19-inch monitors. One (left) is rotated 90 degree and is set up (via Nvidia software) as "main + portrait mode" (extended desktop). When HEM is started on that portrait-oriented monitor, it freezes and after that says Validating and no more. If this main monitor is set as Landscape - HEM wors fine.
version 1/09/beta 35 (because 42 not worked at all on his comp)

Full details:
Windows XP SP2
HEM: 1.09 beta 35
Nvidia driver 190.62
Nvidia control panel ver. 2.7.130.30

If there is one monitor: in "standard" mode - all is OK. But wnen rotating 90 degree left/right (or 180) - HEM freezes (if was working), but continue his job when monitor settings returns to "standard" mode.
If user kills this stopped HEM via Task Manager, next start HEM says Validating... and stops at all - even in Landscape mode.
All other programms work in Portrait mode without problems. HUD on tables and Table Manager - too.
Problem appears only with the main HEM window
