Just got a new PC and whenever i try to register my serial code for HEM, it tells me its invalid or cant be used to unlock the software?
And whenever i try and install postgress, whenever i get to the initialize database cluster screen, i type in my password and it pops up an error saying the secondary logon service is not running? What are these problems and how do i fix them?

Just got a new PC and whenever i try to register my serial code for HEM, it tells me its invalid or cant be used to unlock the software?

1) Enable the option to see Hidden Files - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html

2) Delete \RVG Software\Holdem Manager\holdemmanager.exe.ldat

3) Update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

4) Open HEM and register

Please try using our registration system to register your current/new license. Then you will be able to retrieve or reset your own license, as needed. http://www.holdemmanager.net/Registration/

To get your current license from your running installation of HEM: Help > Show Serial Number

You will need to sign up, login, and then change your code, then logout/login, to get the new code.

The secondary logon service is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services. Right-Click > Properties > Startup > Automatic should insure it works in the future also.

I'm having the exact same problem as Tonic.

Step 8 of your link which is:
"Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files"

Which prompts a response from Windows saying

"These files are required to start and run Windows. Deleting or editing them can make your computer inoperable. Are you sure you want to display these files?"

Is this really what I need to do? Is this going to put my computer at risk? I have already had to uninstall Mcafee antivirus/firewall/antispiware.

Also I tried following your advice because my main problem is with the Secondary Logon Service, however after there is no Startup option on any tab within properties of admin tools.

Its just a display option. If you don't touch the system files it will not affect your system. No risk for your computer

Secondary Logon service:
Start -> Run -> services.msc . There you find a "Secondary logon service" with the option to start it.
Use Google if you need further infos. Its a common windows question.

You need to show the system protected files too.

First of all, we need to enable the option to see Hidden Files: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html

# Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
# Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide extensions for known file types.
# Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
