I'm having problems with PostgreSQL... it has been working fine for months, but now every time I open Hold'em manager, PostgreSQL crashes... so I decided to uninstall PostgreSQL and reinstall it, but I can't install it properly because it keeps telling me that the user or the database already exists and basically I can't finish the setup procedure. And whenever I tried changing the account name or account domain it would screw up.

Now my question is, how do I completely uninstall PostgreSQL so that there's absolutely nothing left of it on my computer so I can follow the instructions on your website on how to install PostgreSQL and for it to work?

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) manually delete the Program Files\Postgresql folders
3) run the command - start > run > cmd >

net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.

When I try to create a new databse, I get this message: The following error occurred when trying to initialize the Hold'em Manager database: Failed to establish a connection to '127.0.0.1'

What should I do?

I have a feeling it's to do with Kaspersky... everything was working fine until I downloaded a newer version of the anti virus... I've tried exiting Kaspersky and then connecting to PostgreSQL but it just won't work. Please help.

You should uninstall Kaspersky, the latest version doesn't work with Postgresql as far as i know

Cant connect to postgresql?

First try to delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it, and reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help you will probably have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely and reimport your hands.

It is a common problem, caused most often by firewall conflicts or windows updates changing some of your modified settings back to default. This results in HEM not being able to talk to the DB.

If you follow the steps I posted above it should fix it or else you will need to probably recreate a new db.
