I want to thank Roy of Hold'em Manager for supporting Outflopped.com (http://www.outflopped.com/) by allowing placement of this thread.

Outflopped (http://www.outflopped.com/) is a new Poker Q&A forum that's free, doesn't contain any annoying animated ads or pop-ups and offers a vastly improved experience over existing poker forums.

Outflopped (http://www.outflopped.com/) synthesizes aspects of Wikis, Blogs, Forums, and Digg/Reddit in a way that is somewhat original in the poker world.

The software for the site has been written from scratch over the last 18 months and has a large number of features that help good content stand out and make bad content fade away.

What are the main improvements over normal forums?

reputation system based on a large number of criteria as opposed to a simple post count which can be easily abused
automatic learning of a users preferred topics so they see relevant posts - eg. a NLH cash game player will be shown more NLH cash game topics and less PLO tournament topics
wiki style editing where trusted users can edit any existing post, with full revision history.
badges system where achievements are rewarded
automatic answer suggestions when entering a question

For example; if a person asks for feedback on how they played a hand, frequently there will be a number of unhelpful responses (such as 'move up', 'fold pf' without any explanation, etc) and a some great responses. Outflopped encourages voting on posts, and responses with more votes will rise to the top. This is of great benefit for future visitors to the thread as they can immediately see the best answers and do not have to wade through pages of noise to get to the good stuff.

A typical thread on Outflopped:

You can see above that the more helpful responses are brought to the top of the list.
Chat that is not directly related to answering the question is kept in comments - so that the main thread is not brought off topic.

Instant answers

Often there is a lot of duplication of posts. Searching a whole forum before you ask a question is a pain. Outflopped will automatically show you related questions as you type your own question - so you might find that the answer you need is already available.

Tags >> rigid structure
On a typical forum you are forced to place your post in a particular forum. More often that not your post will be on a topic that does not fit neatly into any single forum. Outflopped uses tags instead which allows perfect categorization of every post.
If you want to only see strategy or 6-max posts you would bookmark
"www.outflopped.com/questions/tagged/6-max or strategy (http://www.outflopped.com/questions/tagged/6-max or strategy)"
if you wanted only posts that are both 6-max AND strategy you would bookmark
"www.outflopped.com/questions/tagged/6-max strategy (http://www.outflopped.com/questions/tagged/6-max strategy)"

Invite
I would like you all to come along and post all your non-Hold'em Manager support questions at Outflopped (http://www.outflopped.com/). I hope you agree with me that this forum format is a much better format for poker Q&A and once there is a good community at Outflopped it will be a great resource for the poker community.

Please help inform the poker community about Outflopped (http://www.outflopped.com/). The race is on to collect the most badges (http://www.outflopped.com/badges)!
