HUD stops showing extra hands after a while.

If I stop HM. Then restart it. I get this message.

"The following error occured when trying to open the database. Failed to establish connection to 127.0.0.1"

On clicking OK I then get a window with my PostgreSQL details in it stating

"Holdem Manager needs to know where to find the database. Please enter the details below and click Connect"

On clicking Connect I get this message

"A connection to PostgreSQL could not be made. Would you like to have Holdem Manager attempt to start the service."

On clicking YES I get

Holdem Manager has started the service and a START HOLDEM MANAGER button.

I click the START HOLDEM MANAGER button and Holdem Manager starts.

After starting Auto Import Holdem Manager will then display the HUD correctly for some time. It then freezes and does not update.

If I go through this whole process again the HUD will start to import again.

Suggestions and help please.

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Under Vista and Windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73 or holdemmanager.exe, hmhud.exe, and dbcontrolpanel.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe, and the hmhud.exe executable and select "Run as admin" from the popup menu.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Make sure your video card drivers and windows auto updates are fully updated. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed.

What anti-virus are you using?

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help at all we may want to schedule a remote support session to assist you.

I think it is a problem with Kaspersky Internet Security 2010.

HM appears to work correctly when I disable the firewall. I cannot work out why - all the components of HM and Postgresql are allowed and trusted.

Disabling the Kaspersky Firewall and turning on the Windows firewall appears to sort out the problem.

Yes, it is kaspersky that is being overly-sensitive still. Try this.

* Go into the KAV settings window.
* Navigate to the Service node.
* Here, turn on the Compatibility mode for programs using self-protection option.

If that does not work then find the "Heuristic Scanning" option in Kaspersky and disable that.

Close HEM and your anti-virus and delete any \xenocode\appliance cache folders and any other possible false positive files.

1. Enable "Show hidden files and folders" under Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View
2. Go to C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Xenocode\Appl iance Cache and delete every folder you can find in there

If you are on XP, that location is C:\Documents and Settings\%USERPROFILE%\Local\Application Data\xenocode\appliance cache

Empty your recycle bin.

reboot

I cannot get Kaspersky to work at all. I've tried all sorts of stuff.

I have now uninstalled Kaspersky and am using Microsoft security essentials.

No problems at all!

That is my current anti-virus of choice as well. It seems pretty nice so far. Very unobtrusive at least so far.
