Ive tryed reading through every other forum post about postgresql/hem not working but i cant get any help.

So im trying a new thread (sorry if its some kind of repeate of some other thread about the same problem but i dont have the exact same problem)

I also have reformed my computer from scratch, leavning nothing on it for xp--> windows 7.

I download holdemmanager and postgresql.

I try installing postgresql and it said like 40 times that "Secondary local" need to be started or something like that. and then all of a sudden i was able to finish the installation without changing anything. very wierd. Postgresql is installed and now i install holdem manager, and then i update to the latest patch. all fine.

I click on holdemmanager, i activate my key online and its a sucess.

Then holdemmanager starts running and when i come to postgrsql this window pops up:

and then i click YES

and this happends

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/5149/hems.jpg

and now i cant get any longer in the installation process? what can i do?

i dont know what postgresql is or what its good for/what purpose for HEM it has.. and ive tryed to somehow start it manually but nothing happends in my attempts..

and ive prolly used the activition code like 10 times and it says in the small *faq under the activition window to not use it to many times, since ive tryed to re-do this many times but its always the same results.

ive also tryed the vista way with using MONTY-PC and stuff but the password is like 10 letters to long and i cant proceed.

im just totally lost

i really sux at computers, so i would love to get a walk through this in a basic way step for step

Thank you

Regards

What worked for me was to back up my data base to my hard drive. Then just go through and make a new data base, and upload the hands back to HEM. Sounds difficult, really very simple. Whole thing took less than 1 hour. I spent 3X that searching for the solution to the problem.

I tried all the stuff on here, start/stop thing, was already running beta 40, and updated to 8.4. This solution was very simple.

The secondary logon service is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services. Right-Click > Properties > Startup > Automatic should insure it works in the future also.

Under Vista and Windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73 or else you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select "Run as admin" from the popup menu. Windows 7 you MUST set all the executables to always run as admin.

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

its working for me now, somehow i got help from other threads

i recommend you guys with the same problem to turn off all antivirus/firewall shit
completely uninstall postgres 8.3 and run 8.4 wich installs itself without complication, and when i did that and used 8.4 i could create a new database for holdemmanager and now its working!

close thread, problem solved :)
