Hi,

I haven't opened Holdem Manager for a couple of weeks and when I tried today this message came up: "The following error occurred when trying to open the database: Failed to establish a connection to '127.0.0.1'."

Then it comes up with the Database Control Panel which says "Holdem Manager need to know where to find the database. Please enter in the details below and click on Connect."

All the details are already filled in, although I have no idea if they are correct, but when I click Connect it says "A Connection to PostgreSQL could not be made. Would you like to have Holdem Manager attempt to start the service? Yes/No"

I click Yes and it says "Holdem Manager has started the service. Please try again."

I click OK but still no joy when I go to restart the program. Help!

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Under Vista and Windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73 and/or holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the holdemmanager.exe and the hmhud.exe executable and select "Run as admin" from the popup menu.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help at all we may want to schedule a remote support session to assist you.

Hi,

I am following the second FAQ link to try and correct this problem but I come unstuck when I try to uninstall Postgresql - my computer won't allow me to uninstall. This message comes up:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'postgresql-8.3-int.msi' in the box below.

Use source:
C:/Program Files/PokerTracker 3/

When I click Browse to look for the postgresql-8.3-int.msi file I can't find it. Help!

It sounds like you installed PT3, which installs postgresql 8.3 by default. Then you uninstalled PT3, which removed the sql uninstaller. Terrible design by them, imo.

Download sql 8.3 - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/postgresql.zip

Extract that to a new folder, and point the uninstaller there when prompted.
