0. Make sure you have installed Beta 40
1. Note your database connection settings from the database management
2. Close Holdemmanager
3. Go to the folder config in the holdemmanager installation path
4. Rename the file holdemmanager.config to holdemmanager.config.corrupt
or sth. like that.
5. Under Vista make sure that UAC is switched off or check the
administrator settings for holdemmanager.exe, hmhud.exe and
dbcontrolpanel.exe under properties->compatibility
6. Restart Holdemmanager
7. Holdemmanager reinstalls and displays some messages and warnings
7a. A new holdemmanager.config file is generated
8. Reconfigure your database connection
9. After successful start reconfigure your Auto-import settings
10. Table manager should start again.

sigh, now, when I start HEM, it asks to repair it, and it says "the administrator set it so that you can't install"

Okay, whatever, this bullshit cost me my database + my computer's administrator settings are completely fucked.

pretty pissed off right now.

you didn't loose your database, you just need to reconnect. And it has nothing to do with your administrator settings.

That worked.

Although I also had to reconfigure my player preferences in HUD options.

Thanks for the speedy fix.

The recent xenocode issue has corrupted the holdemmanager.config files and prefs.xml files. You will want to check all important configuration settings and preferences. Make sure you take the time to Export any new custom HUD configs, so if it happens again you can just import the exported version.

i was running good for a change and HEM crapped out... "a connection was forced closed" then the postgresSQL screen came up with server name, etc... i searched for threads and found this 10-15 minutes ago... i renamed the file "holdemmanager.config.corrupt"... went to vista settings and turned off UAC... but HEM will not restart (beta 40). when i click the shortcut from desktop it cannot locate the user path... when i click HEM.exe from the hard drive, it says, "Could not find the Config\HoldemManager.config file. make sure you are running HEM from the correct directory."

then i get the 'Database Control Panel' popping up again...

where did i go wrong?

EN09
10-20-2009, 12:52 AM
if i go back and rename the config file (remove the 'corrupt') i get the following pop-up box: "The following error occurred when trying to open the database: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An exisiting connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

then i click 'OK' and the Database Control Panel comes up again...

first of all,my holdemmanager was working fine till two weeks ago.then it wouldnt open when i clicked the mouse on it.i sent off an email to support after trying to start it,to which i received no reply(thank you very much). i read some of the faqs, like faq id171.nothing worked. after two fkn pissed off weeks i got tired of this crap, and uninstalled everything .naturally i lost all m y stats. i followed the instructions on downloading the PostgreSQL and got to installing it about 75% when i get a poup saying"postgres could not be created, user acount already exists" if it exists on my computer, icant find it. i think i deleted everything.what the hell's going on?

on my laptop,i cant open HM because i get a message from Windows when i try to open"holdem manager has stopped working" So far HM has been very useful to me. both run Vista which i fkng hate.

can someonegive me an answer?

I've been on this site all day trying to get my HUD to work. Nothing will work and I'm no computer genius so I can't figure it out, but I assumed thats what support was for. I get really delayed responses and most are really not helping. My time is worth a lot of money (obviously through poker) to me and spending a whole day trying to fk with getting HUD to work instead of playing is really unacceptable imo. Somebody please help me get this bug fixed. I'm really fed up with having to deal with this bullshit every other week. Please make it work.

@luck: this is the 5th thread i read a post from you. This is not very helpfull.
I don't know what your actual problem status is but if you still can't get it work please schedule a remote support session with our support manager. Email fabio@holdemmanager.net, with a link to this thread and your forum name, so he can setup a Teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) session.

sorry you dont think its helpful but i'm sure you can imagine I don't think its awesome that a product I use to assist me in making decisions when I'm playing about 5k hands per day goes down so often. I will take your advice and send the e-mail. Do you know about how long it takes to get a session set up?

Sorry, can't give you a schedule because all this virus problems cause a lot of work.

In the meantime you could try to use an older Beta: http://holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11865

You need to delete the postgres user account before you can install it again to that account. Or you could just make up another name, like postgreshm or postgresuser when installing, so it doesnt try to recreate postgres.

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Vista: Turn off UAC - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

For reinstalling SQL to a new/empty DB, please follow these steps:

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) manually delete or rename the Program Files\Postgresql folders
3) run the command - start > run > cmd >

net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.
5) Install PostgreSQL 8.4, with your firewall uninstalled or turned off if windows firewall - http://www.enterprisedb.com/products/pgdownload.do#windows

If you only double clicked the holdemmanager.zip download, you only opened it up in a preview window of sorts.

- Right-Click > Extract All to your holdemmanager.zip file.
- That should create a new folder with the contents, which should allow the setup to run properly.
- If you have any issues with the windows not having an Extract menu under Right-Click, try www.7zip.org.

So I should download a new installation zip? I will do that and if it doesn't work report back here.

I get the same message I got earlier. I'm not trying to reinstall, I'm trying to start HM. I'm talking about these steps:

6. Restart Holdemmanager
7. Holdemmanager reinstalls and displays some messages and warnings

Okay, I repaired HM via the control panel an it has made a new Holdem manager file in the config map. But the problem isn't solved at all.

I installed beta 38 now and it works. Will try newer beta's.

I cant open hm after change this config file;/

fozzy71
11-04-2009, 07:38 PM
Then you probably didnt rename it properly.

Windows hides 'known file extensions' by default, so make sure you can see them - http://www.granneman.com/techinfo/windows/showextensions/

Now make sure you rename or delete any holdemmanager.config file, so that HEM can recreate one default.

If that doesnt help try a revo reinstall

1) Make a backup of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder, and any other important files mentioned earlier.
2) Uninstall HM with www.revouninstaller.com using the Deep setting.
3) If given the option, on the 2 following screens of Revo, choose the Select All > Delete buttons to remove any registry entries and leftover files.
4) Reboot your computer
5) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
6) Download the latest patch HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe
7) You will have to reconfigure your import folders, etc, as mentioned before. Test if it for a while and see if it work

My HUD is still not working. I tried following the steps 0-10 as given above, but ran into the same problem as poster 'Joostul' above at step 6. I then deleted HEM altogether and reinstalled the beta version, and tried to go through the steps again. I know have 2 holdemmanager.config files, both of which are changed to .corrupt (one is .corrupt2). When i then restarted HEM i did not get the problem at step 6 but the table manager and HUD still do not come up. My computer knowledge is very limited so i'd be very grateful if you could help me get this sorted, preferably breaking it down in as simple terms as possible. Thanks

Did you uninstall it using revo uninstaller as detailed above? Please do so now. Make a copy of your \holdem manager folder and then use revo to reinstall it fresh.

Under Vista and Windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73 or holdemmanager.exe, hmhud.exe, and dbcontrolpanel.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe, and the hmhud.exe executable and select "Run as admin" from the popup menu.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

1) Make a backup of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder, and any other important files mentioned earlier.

The holdem.lic file has nothing to do with the Table Manager not launching. If you would like assistance to get everything working right Please email fabio@holdemmanager.net, with a link to this thread, and your forum name, so you can schedule a Teamviewer session. Download and install the www.Teamviewer.com Quick Support version.

Can i still do this if it is saying it can't find the Config folder? And if i can, how do i do the backup?

fozzy71
11-06-2009, 11:49 AM
Try searching for prefs.xml

That is the file that contains your HUD settings/layouts. That is contained in the \config folder with the missing holdemmanager.config file.

If you didnt have any custom HUDs or Popups there is really no need to save the config folder.
