How is it possible to be shown as getting lucky whenever I folded the hand? The second J8o shows to be $EV -1.73 and yet I folded pre-flop. I have HEM version 1.09beta36b.

$EV is based on your equity in the tournament. Despite the fact that you folded, chips changed hands amongst other players at the table. The distribution of chips effects your equity in the tournament, regardless of how you played the hand.
As another example, your adjusted luck would increase on the bubble if you were the short stack and the chip leader knocked out the 2nd biggest stack, allowing you to reach the money.
