been emailing with fab to get my HEM fixed
seems i have a postgres issue
he sent me these instructions this morning
1. Uninstall any PostgreSQL version you can find under Control Panel -> Software
2. Delete the existing "postgres" user:
click on Start and go to Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt
- If you are on Vista, rightclick and choose "Run as Administrator".
A black box should appear. Type 'net user postgres /del' (without the quotes) and press enter. The user is now deleted.
3. Go to C:\Program Files\ and delete the PostgreSQL folder
4. Install this version: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=176
but when i go control panel, there is no 'software' option
what else would it be under???

If you are on XP it is Add/Remove programs. If you are on vista, on a USA PC, it is called Programs And Features.
here are my sql reinstall instructions, if you have no concern for the database.
Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe
Vista: Turn off UAC - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73
Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171
For reinstalling SQL to a new/empty DB, please follow these steps:
1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) manually delete or rename the Program Files\Postgresql folders
3) run the command - start > run > cmd >
net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.
5) Install PostgreSQL 8.4, with your firewall uninstalled or turned off if windows firewall - http://www.enterprisedb.com/products/pgdownload.do#windows

Thats not normal but ...
Please make sure whether the postgresql installation folder (usually c:\program files\postgresql) is properly deleted. If yes i think its ok.

Delete the contents of it, if it will let you, or try renaming the folder. If that doesnt work, Turn off UAC (if it is on) and try rebooting, and then try to delete or rename it, immediately after rebooting.
