I used to have PT3 and transferred over to HEM. I dont care about keeping my database, there werent a ton of hands on there anyways. When I try to install it via the FAQ, I get a message that there is already a postgreSQL server installed (I assume from PT3)... except I've already uninstalled PT3 and everything related to it.

So, I try to install PostgreSQL via the FAQs, and I come to an impass. I reach the screen that has Port Number, locale, Encoding, etc, and I get the following error message:

The specified Data directory is not empty.

If you have an existing database with a different major version you need to backup your old database and create a new one

I thought I got rid of this old database? Stupid pokertracker, lol. I deleted everything that I thought was PostgreSQL, but apparently I cant install this database (or combine them) because it exists somewhere on my computer still.

Any help is appreciated. I just want to get this on to my laptop.

Well if you dont want the old database go to C:/Program Files/PostgreSQL/8.x/Data and delete everything in the Data folder (might need to stop postgreSQL if you get permission errors when deleting, this can be done via Start > All Programs > PostgreSQL > Stop Service, then after deleting is complete Start > All Programs > PostgreSQL > Start Service)

Then it should let you by the next step. If you dont want to delete the old database just untick "Initialise database cluster" near the top of the installation page and it will continue but youll probably need to use you PT login then to login to postgreSQL when HM asks for it

I got through that issue, but 2 unknown errors came up at the end of installation that involved not being connected to the internet (but im 4tabling atm so obv not true). Then I tried to input the user and pw and was not able to start HEM still. I closed my UAC but the computer has had a couple reboots since then, do I need to re-close it?

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

What were the errors specifcally? Transport connection or database connection errors?

Under Vista and Windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73 and/or holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the holdemmanager.exe and the hmhud.exe executable and select "Run as admin" from the popup menu.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If you still cant connect try to reinstall SQL:

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Vista: Turn off UAC - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

For uninstalling SQL please follow these steps:

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) manually delete or rename the Program Files\Postgresql folders
3) run the command - start > run > cmd >

net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.
5) Install PostgreSQL 8.4, with your firewall uninstalled or turned off if windows firewall - http://www.enterprisedb.com/products/pgdownload.do#windows

If that doesn't help at all we may want to schedule a remote support session to assist you.

Oh, one more question...

My HD in my desktop went mid-session, so I lost everything.. What's the quickest way to get a new key (actually, I'd need 2 new keys, one for laptop one for desktop, but if I can't get 2 I'd understand), if that's even possible?

You have one key which is valid for 2 of your computers.

If you lost your key please contact sales@holdemmanager.net with your purchase details.
