I'm getting problems with starting HEM.

"the following error occurred when trying to open the database: Failed to establish a connection to '127.0.0.1'."

I have UAC turned off using Windows 7. It use to work before until I did a repair on my start up on windows. Now, i try to start the service manually still doesn't work. Says "A connection to PostgreSQL could not be made. Would you liek to have Holdem Manager attempt to start the service?"

I click Yes.

"sorry, holdem manager was unable to start the service"

I was thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling Postgre but i'm worried that i'll lose all my databases. Will I?

This is typically a firewall or windows update issue.

First try a simple reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171
