First of, I know there are several threads regarding this problem and I have tried about all tips in the threads I found in the search.

I have had HEM installed on my computer for a very long time, but last week I started having problems with the HUD not showing stats etc, so I tried restarting HEM several times. Suddenly I could not connect to my database so I tried re-installing postgres and HEM. It did not work. Then I went to this forum and searched trough many threads and tried a lot.

I have disabled the windows firewall, windows defender (also manually had it to allow postgres and hem) I did all the tips in this thread http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261 and now I have this error: http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/8186/postgreserror.jpg

Before I had a different error, http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/2291/errorly5.jpg

I really hope someone can help me, and if it is a minor problem I am sorry for making a thread about it. But I dont know what else I can try now

I have windows vista, have disabled the admin thing etc

...... so I tried re-installing postgres and HEM. It did not work. ...

What version of postgres did you have before? What version are you installing? 8.3 in both cases? Did you delete the postgres user account before you reinstalled?

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Vista: Turn off UAC - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

For uninstalling SQL please follow these steps:

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) manually delete or rename the Program Files\Postgresql folders
3) run the command - start > run > cmd >

net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.
5) Install PostgreSQL 8.4, with your firewall uninstalled or turned off if windows firewall - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=176

If you have any problems with the default user name of: postgres try using a name such as: postgreshm or similar.

Thx, that did the trick. But now that I have 8.4 and used to have 8.3, how do I retrive my old database?

I am sorry, I assumed you had archives of the originals and/or exported hand history files, when you said you had reinstalled postgresql. You didnt mention trying to reinstall and use your old database files, so I got the impression you were attempting to install a new/clean DB.

Do you have old .backup files of the 8.3 DB?

Do you have the original \data folder for postgresql 8.3?

If you have either of those we can restore the DB and export the hands. Otherwise you are going to have to import any/all \HMArchive folders you have and any other hand archives/exports. You can also request your lifetime hands from most major sites.

If you have these files and want some help trying to restore them, Please email me at fozzy@holdemmanager.net so we can schedule a Teamviewer session.
