Hey guys,

I am about to buy a new PC and within my build, I am including an SSD because I am told that it would make everything database-related much faster than what I currently have. I am being asked if I should have the OS on the SSD as well though and I don't know, so this is my question. Apparently having both the OS and my HEM database could be counterproductive.

Thanks!

Ultimately I believe you want the OS and the DB each on it's own SSD drive(s) for optimum performance. I don't know enough about hardware and SQL to know which in-between method is the best for performance.

I have a brand new Ci7 PC witha single 750gb 7200rpm drive. SQL is on it's own partition of that single drive, and I get ~100 h/s pretty steadily. I am planning to add a single SSD later this fall as a dedicated postgresql drive, so I look forward to hearing your results.
