While installing PostgreSQL i'm recieving the following error:
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/6210/initdb.th.jpg (http://img21.imageshack.us/i/initdb.jpg/)

The message in the logfile:
The application cannot be started because the configuration beside each other is incorrect. Consult the event log application for further information.

But then there is no event log anywhere.

I already found on the internet that a manual installation of PostgreSQL should work around this. But i don't know how to manual install.

Can someone help me with this?

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Turn off the windows firewall and uninstall any 3rd party firewalls or internet security.

Make sure you have microsoft .net framework 3.5 installed in the programs and features window.

Try a clean reinstall of sql using revo uninstaller.

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Vista: Turn off UAC - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

For uninstalling SQL please follow these steps:

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL using www.revouninstaller.com - use the deep settings and delete all registry entries and leftover files
2) manually delete or rename the Program Files\Postgresql folders (revo should have removed them)
3) run the command - start > run > cmd >

net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.
5) Install PostgreSQL 8.4, with your firewall uninstalled or turned off if windows firewall - http://www.enterprisedb.com/products/pgdownload.do#windows

Now I have a new error when installing postgresql 8.4.1.1.

"Warning Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly Failed to start the database server".

I'm running WinXP Pro, firewall and antivir off. I did all the steps Fozzy mentioned in his post. I even uninstalled HM.

Any more suggestions? :(

This customer had the same issue yesterday, but hasn't replied back to my suggestions yet.

If none of that helps Please email me at fozzy@holdemmanager.net so we can schedule a Teamviewer session. Download the www.Teamviewer.com Quick Support Module. It does not need to be installed, as it can run directly from your Desktop/Directory. Please let me know what time zone you are in and what time/days are convenient for you. I will see if I can get beyond that roadblock for you.
