View Full Version : Connection Error: Unable to read data from transport connection..

This error started happening for no reason. What I've tried:

1) Revo Uninstaller on PostgreSQL 8.4, command prompt as admin "netuser postgres /delete"

2) Uninstalling HEM, reinstalling with combo installer

3) Rebooting 100 times.

4) Trying to install other versions of PostgreSQL; always get an error when trying to install it. PostgreSQL 8.3 hangs during installation forever. PostgreSQL 8.4 always says a non-fatal error occured.

5) System restoring. For some reason, the restore points I set before installing a new antivirus (ESET NOD32) aren't functionning. I suspect this might be the cause. However, the installation of ESET NOD32 was never completed, so this is confusing me very much.

I'm really tilted right now and am strongly considering formating my computer. Is there a solution to this very frustrating problem?

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

Windows 7, no firewall, no anti-virus.

Now I get this error when trying to install 8.2:

Uninstall all your firewall, virusscanner and other security software and try again. Something is blocking postgresql on your installation.
If you have it up and running you can begin installing firewall etc. again.

Hi netsrak,

I don't have any software like that installed. Uninstalling them would of been my first instinct.

Now when I try to install Postgre SQL 8.2, it hangs at "Starting services" during the installation forever without progressing.

I truly hate PostgreSQL. It's been the source of every problem I've ever had with Holdem Manager.

Would you have any other suggestions? This is frustrating beyond belief and I'm missing out on tons of action without my HUD right now.

edit: after about 10 minutes, the PGSQL 8.2 installer said "unable to start postgres 8.2 service" or something like that. It then cancelled and rolled back the installation. Not too sure if that can help you at all.
