I have got thru the setup fine until I get to the initialize database cluster, Im getting an error message saying,
The specified data directory is not empty.
If you have an existing database with the same major version number, you do not need to initialize a database cluster.
If you have an existing database with a diferent major version number you need to backup your old databse and create a new one. ??

Im not sure what this means any ideas?

It means you installed postgresql at one time and/or didnt complete the uninstall process fully. When uninstalling postgresql it does not delete the \data directory or the postgres user account. This is so you can backup your \data if necessary. Did you install the trial of PT3? That installs postgresql.

Check your Control Panel > Add-Remove Programs (or Programs and Features in vista/w7).

If you already have postgresql 8.3 you do not need to install it. You can just install HM and update to the latest beta, and then create a new database for holdem manager.

If you need to reinstall postgresql fully:

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

For uninstalling SQL please follow these steps:

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) manually delete or rename the Program Files\Postgresql folders
3) run the command - start > run > cmd >

net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.
5) Install PostgreSQL 8.4, with your firewall uninstalled or turned off if windows firewall - http://www.enterprisedb.com/products/pgdownload.do#windows
