View Full Version : Another 'Unable to Connect' Error

Software has been working fine. Only change I can think of was a recent Windows (Vista) update. I checked my firewall (I think that resolved the issue last time). Can't think of any other reason it would be unable to connect to database. Would appreciate any help ASAP. Thanks.

First try a simple reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Thanks Foz,

I hadn't noticed that there was a 'connect anyway' button, which I finally clicked. That worked. I'll try turning my defender and firewall back on and rebooting. Hopefully, it was a permanent fix. Thanks again.

We suggest you leave windows defender off, and UAC off. We also suggest you only run one firewall, and make sure you set exceptions according to the faq I linked.
