Was having issues getting trying to get rakeback as a custom stat, so I thought I'd download the latest beta and now HEM won't work at all, at all, at all.

I click on the shortcut, and then nothing happens, apart from the fact that HEM is hogging loads of CPU.

I have gone into Window Task Manager, the CPU is maxed out with HEM taking 45-50% of available CPU under the "Processes" tab, but it isn't even listed under the "Applications" tab. No HEM window opens at all.

Please help. I'll come back to the rakeback stat issue later, but please get me my HEM back.

PS I've rebooted 3 or 4 times already, as that seems to be the usual solution

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

If it still wont start, you will probably have to try a clean reinstall of HM.

Before you uninstall HM:

I want to re-install Holdem Manger without losing all of my settings and preferences. Can this be done? - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=98

You want to make sure you backup your Processed/Archived hand histories, your entire \config folder, and your exportednotes file. http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/?f=119. I usually just copy my entire \Holdem Manager directory.

I would also make sure you manually export the database to hand history text files:

HM > Options > Database Management > Connect > Export Hands

How do I export or import hands into and from Holdem Manager? - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173

Make sure you copy that folder as well as the other stuff I mentioned.

This helps to insure that if anything goes wrong with the backup/restore, you can manually import the exported files to rebuild.

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. You must also add exceptions to the Windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

1) Make a backup of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder, and any other important files mentioned earlier.
2) Uninstall HM with www.revouninstaller.com using the Deep setting.
3) If given the option, on the 2 following screens of Revo, choose the Select All > Delete buttons to remove any registry entries and leftover files.
4) Reboot your computer
5) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
6) Download the latest patch HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe
7) Test if it for a while and see if it work
8) Close down Holdem Manager and rename the current, working \config folder to \config_original. Now copy your \config folder from step 1 and paste it to your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\ fodler, to replace the one you just renamed.
9) Test if it works again for a while
10) If your old config folder causes problems, you can paste the contents of the \config_original folder back in.
11) Now you can import any notes and hud configs.

Please tell me you are kidding me? It'll take me half the night to try to understand all that, let alone do it. Complete nightmare. We're not all computer whizz kids you know.

119 is about transferring to another computer, which I'm not doing. The next bit tells me to go into HEM to do something, but how can I cos it won't open - that's the problem! Please, in simple English, tell me what to do instead.

Have uninstalled, and when I tried to install I get this. Completely wasted a night on this now.

Thanks for the teamviewer session, all worked OK last night. However, loaded HEM up today, only had 4 tables open and yet the computer was lagging due to CPU maxing out; it was taking ages to respond to mouse clicks to such an extent that I was in danger of timing out on tables. Windows Task Manager suggested HMHud was the culprit, using up to 50% of CPU capacity. Would anything you did yesterday have caused this?

I can't imagine what I would have done that could cause that. I do the same basic things with everyone i work on. UAC off, Firewall exceptions in windows firewall (even if its off), exceptions in any other firewalls.

I will forward this to the HUD developer for a reply. In the meantime, please turn off the HUD Options > Player Preferences > Appearance > Multiple Panels option, if on, and turn both of the opacities all the way up to 100$ if they are partially transparent currently. if that doesn't help, please email me again asap, and we will schedule another session. We will try to reproduce this while I am there, and then see if I can do anything to lower the CPU use.

Decided to give it another try and it behaved this time, playing my usual 8 tables. Will see what happens over the next couple of days.
