yes of course if you dont want to use a network connection to your PC

Yes, even if you are going to share a single database via network or external hard drive. Most people maintain 2 databases and just export/import hands from one to the other to keep them synchronized. If you want to share a DB please search our FAQs for keyword 'database'.
