MOst often I can't open holdem manager. I get an error which says "The following error occured when trying to open the database: Unable to read data from the transport connection: an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."
i've updated to the latest patch, and even reinstalled.

Other times it opens, but my database is all out of wack. How do I fix this?

That is typically a firewall issue that is blocking connection from HM to the PostgreSQL Database. Reinstalling HM won't help in these situations.

First try a simple reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help at all we may want to schedule a remote support session to assist you.

Can you be more descriptive of what the exact problems are? What version of PostgreSQL is installed?
