I am getting this error for the first time after the beta download:

"The following error occurred while trying to open the database. Un able to read data from the transport connection. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. "

I downloaded the beta update, deleted my HH files, and rebooted. Started FTP, then HM, and got the same error messages, but was able to get it started??????Now for the first time, the HUD is working, but the display does not appear on the correct player. It shows stats for a players out of place. Not sure what to do?

The connection error is typically Firewall related.

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

If you get the error again:

First try a simple reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help at all we may want to schedule a remote support session to assist you.

For the seating issue, it depends on what site you are playing.

Typical process:

Set preferred seat in the poker client. Match that setting in the HM Seating Preferences, and start playing at a single, micro-stakes table.

If you still are having issues, try this:

1) Close HM and the Table Manager.
2) Delete your existing position files, so HM will rebuild them to default.
3) Delete > \Holdem Manager\Config\pospref.txt and pospref2.txt.
4) Start HM< Auto Import, Open the Table Manager, and open 1 cash table.
5) After a couple hands it will show the HUD.
6) Use Ctrl Right-Click Drag to move the panels Move the main/first panel for each player first. This is the panel with the Note Icon (astersik).
7) Once the main panel is in the proper position, you can position the sub-panels for each player.
8) Once they are set, go to Table Manager > File > Save Positions.
9) Close that table, open a new one, and sit to play.
10) If the HUD pops up while waiting for the big blind, do not move any hud panels.*

*Once HM imports your first played hand it will spin the HUD to correct for the preferred seating settings.

I have removed my firewall software, AND PostgreSQL. I have attempted to reinstall PostgreSQL by following the install directions, and I am getting an error message when simply trying to put the user name and password in. I cannot get any farther into the install due to this issue. HELP?

I did not suggest reinstalling postgresql, I don't think.

Here are the instructions:

Vista: Turn off UAC - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

For uninstalling SQL please follow these steps:

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) manually delete the Program Files\Postgresql folders
3) run the command - start > run > cmd >

net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.
5) install PostgreSQL again, with your firewall uninstalled or turned off if windows firewall, using these directions and postgresql.zip version. - [url]http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=176

I followed your instructions and now cannot get passed the initialize database cluster. It gives me an error message that the data directory is not empty. Of coarse there is NOTHING for me to remove, so again i am stuck and completely clueless. Is there anyway I can call you, or someone in support to help me, as I am completely incapable of doing something quite this simple. I would love to know how this product works, but of coarse I am spending more time trying to install/get it to work than I have time to allow. Thanks.

Are you sure it is empty? Did you manually delete your \data folder when uninstalling postgresql like in my instructions I posted (after you had already uninstalled SQL)? When you uninstall postgresql it leaves your \data folder, so you are able to save it or reinstall directly over it again and use the same DB.

2) manually delete the Program Files\Postgresql folders

If you have 64 Bit vista check the \porgram files (x86)\postgresql directory also.

if you are still having issues:
