Hello,
I purchased, installed, and updated Holdem Manager about 3 days ago. I have version 1.09 Beta 29. I was working on FT last night and it was working just fine. My internet then crashed and I shut everything off. I started working again this morning and attempted to load my Holdem Manager and received the following message:

"The following error occurred when trying to open the database: Unable to read data from the transport connection; An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."

After I get that message, I am returned to the Database Control Panel with my Server Name, Port Number, Login Name, and Password. I press 'Connect' and a pop-up window displays the following message:

"Connection error: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."

Additionally, by doing trial and error, I figured out that if I press connect enough times, I can bring up the 'Create New Database' window. It allows me to create a new database, assuming I don't pick the name of the old one and bring up Holdem Manager. However, during the session I played, hands were not being imported after pressing the import button.

Thank very much for your time and help,
G

Windows updates have been causing a spike in these issues.

First try a simple reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help at all we may want to schedule a remote support session to assist you.
