Hi, right now I am using quad core Q6600(2.4Ghz) with vertex 2 SSD disk and 4gb of ram. Speeds are decent but since I am importing a lot of hand everyday I want it done faster :)

How much of upgrade would it be if I changed my old cpu for i7 2600k and OC it to 4.5Ghz and change from 4gb ram to 8gb ? I would leave SSD disk the same.

Right now I am using default NC definitions that came with HM2 but they are not really good so I will create custom ones->

For example it will only show villains 3b range VS LAG/TAG and not everyone else... last time I did this it really slowed note generation down tremendously.

So I guess the question is: How much would cpu/ram upgrade help ? And maybe you have any other tips for importing a lot of hands daily:) ?

Cheers

hard drive>CPU>>>>>>>>>>memory in terms of importance.

My comp is:

i7 990x
16 gb memory
SSD

and I get 700 hps with the defaults if I run outside the debugger (as 99.9% of people do)

your cpu only has 2 cores.

Whatever you do don't use 1 unless you're having performance issues. NC at 1 purposely slows to a crawl at 1. Since many people complained about CPU utilization, it limits itself to 10%

In the quickstart guide you said that we should let it at 1. If we set it at 2 (I have 2 cores only) how much cpu it will limit itself ? 20% ?

I added notes from Definition Digest, 13 hands/second ! Far from 700 :(

As soon as you move it past 1 it's no limit on CPU. On a dual core comp I say put it at 2 and go to sleep while it runs through. Trying to play at the same time won't end well. NC performs deep analysis like how someone plays differently than the average player and relative hand strengths but to compute that is no cake walk. That's why bigger companies don't touch that kind of depth because it's hard to keep a good balance on various types of computers and still make money :)

i had the same thing, then i changed to 2 threads and boom i have 200hands/sec now. Enough for me :)

setting it to 2 will run it a max speed possible for your cpu

im running a single note now. Is it normal that I now cant choose between 1 or 2 threads? cause its running at 80hands. 2Threads usualy give me 200+ and 1thread gives me 15

The less the no of notes the faster it will run. doing a full vacuum analyze of your Db will also speed things up
