Windows Vista updates are causing a huge spike in this issue. For most people a simple reboot cures it. For others: Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > Stop Service, then the same to Start the Service back up.

If that doesn't help, then it is likely a firewall or UAC issue.

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

If that doesn't help at all we may want to schedule a remote support session to assist you.

Either your seating preferences in stars or HM got changed, you are pre-fetching HUD and moved them around while waiting for the BB, or your positions files got corrupted.

Double check your stars preferred seat settings and HM seat settings. chip rack is seat 0 and clockwise from there.

Do you pre-fetch HUD at stars? I think it makes setting up the HUDs easier, but if you have observed stats and sit down, the table spins for your preferred seat, but the HUD cant spin to match your hero seat until after you play a hand. A lot of people sit, and adjust the HUD because it looks wrong. Then HM imports, and adjusts for the preferred seat settings and messes everything back up. :D

pre-fetch FAQs:

If you are still having problems, the easiest way to clean up bad hud positions is:

1) Close HM and the Table Manager.
2) Delete your existing position files, so HM will rebuild them to default.
3) Delete > \Holdem Manager\Config\pospref.txt and pospref2.txt.
4) Start HM< Auto Import, Open the Table Manager, and open 1 cash table.
5) After a couple hands it will pre-fetch some observed hands to show the HUD.
6) Use Ctrl Right-Click Drag to move the panels Move the main/first panel for each player first. This is the panel with the Note Icon (astersik).
7) Once the main panel is in the proper position, you can position the sub-panels for each player.
8) Once they are set, go to Table Manager > File > Save Positions.
9) Close that table, open a new one, and sit to play.
10) If the HUD pops up while waiting for the big blind, do not move any hud panels.*

*Once HM imports your first played hand it will spin the HUD to correct for the preferred seating settings.
