My UI is extremely slow when the HUD is running. See image. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know how to fix it?

I experience this same symptom intermittently (very slow UI response time). I have a brand new 1.6.02 installation and therefore a pretty small database. I have a brand new Samsung monitor and I installed the latest driver (on WinXP). When the symptom occurs the CPU utilization spikes to 100% for several seconds then drops. This cycle repeats continually. I only have 2 tables open. I have cleared the problem by stopping the importer and restarting HEM. Sometimes the problem persists and sometimes it clears it. But turning off HEM clears the problem.

2.66 Ghz Pentium 4 with 2.5 GB RAM XP SP3

Can you move your opacity sliders all the way to the max on Hud Options > Player Preferences and also Hud Options > Table Preferences and see if it makes any difference

The opacity in Player Options was already set to max. I modified the Opacity in Table Options but it did not make any difference. I really like the product but this problem is making it unusable for me. Please tell me what diagnostic information that you need from me to help you fix this issue.

When you see this problem again can you try something as it sounds like its spiking when its importing.

First remove C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Importing\Hem Data from the auto import folders list and MAKE SURE to completely shut down and restart HM

Its possible something like your antinvirus/spyware etc is scanning every file before importing which some tend to do so when it starts happening again can you stop any datamining you may be doing and also sit out so it stops spawning new files and see if it continues although it may take a minute to import the last few hands but if you see a difference after a minute its most likely an antivirus program ect causing the problem so visit their support site to find out how to add HM to its exceptions list

You mentioned you installed a new driver for your graphics card, were you getting problems previous to this install

Please see the ImportFolder jpg which shows only the FTP HH folder listed.

I had the same issue before I upgraded my monitor.

Please see the 3 attached jpg's which show my AV is turned off. The biggest culprit is the FullTiltPoker.exe process, followed by systemIdle and finally HMHUD.exe.

No AHK scripts and I have not used HEM with other poker sites.

FYI: I just upgraded to 1.6.03 and no change, the problem persists.

One person had some luck today fixing the issue by setting the "always ontop" flag in the HUD Options. It changes the way the table is drawn slightly which could resolve the problem for you if the video card driver update did not work

Hi Roy,

Yes, I worked with Mike, one of your developers, last night with Teamviewer.

He suspected the issue was with the driver for the Intel 82865G Graphics Controller. I went to the Intel website but I could not find a more recent version.

Mike then suggested to enable "force on top" under HUD Options > Table Preferences. That made a huge difference and seemed to fix the problem. The 'always on top' behavior is a little annoying when trying to use other windows. I wonder why this option is even available, who would want this behavior?

For me this is a valid "workaround" but not a fix. If this is a graphics driver issue then I understand that there may be no code change that can fix the problem. But if it an interoperability issue with this particular driver, it would be great if a software fix could be made.

thanks,
John

p.s. I verified the symptom and workaround both happened with both FTP and PokerStars. You may want to document this as a 'known issue' in you FAQ for other users.
