Ive updated to beta 28, and still getting this error when I start the program:

The following error occurred when trying to open the database: Unable to read data from transport connection: an existing connection was forcible closed by the remote host.

When I click "OK", the "connect to postgreSQL" window comes up. I click connect but get a huge long error window that I cannot copy/paste.

This error started happening after I did a windows update laste night (Vista)

Any ideas? Thx!

This is almost always a Firewal lor UAC issue. Often caused by windows updates.

Try this:

Programs -> PostgreSQL 8.3 -> Stop Service,
then Programs -> PostgreSQL 8.3 -> Reload Configuration, then Programs -> PostgreSQL 8.3 -> Start Service.

If that doesn't help:

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:

1) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
2) http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171
3) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help at all we may want to schedule a remote support session to assist you.

Your first solution worked, starting and stopping postgreSQL.

Thanks for the prompt response!
