I am having several problems with HEM. Sometimes I run HEM and it seems to start fine. However when I attempt to import hands its begins to do so and just stays "Importing..." It never progresses past this.

When I restart HEM I get a pop up:

"The following error occurred when trying to open the database. Unable to read data from the transport connection. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."

Then a database control panel pops up for connecting to PostgresSQL. If i try to connect I get another pop up saying:

"Connection Error: Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 40."

Thanks for any help.

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

Please try following all of these FAQs, step by step:
