hi,
after having used HM and Hud both working absolutely fine for the last 6 months, my HUD has just suddenly decided to stop working!

Once i start the autoimport, tablemanager opens as normal, but as soon as i launch a table, i get a windows error message saying "HMHud has stopped working" and that "windows is now closing the program".

If i go to HUD Options > Player prefernces, then every box on this page is blank, with no catergories of stats or any data of any kind. and if i try to create a new config i get the error message, that i have attached at the bottom.

I have tried reinstalling HM but hasnt seemed to work. everything else works fine, and i can still track my hands etc, just seems like the Hud program has totally given up.

I am running version 1.09 beta 24, windows vista, service pack 2. i also attach my config file.

any ideas?

cheers

Paul

1) Clear your web cache, and download the beta update again, with another browser if possible. http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe.
2) Right-Click > Save Link As to save it to a different folder.
3) Reboot, and run the installer first thing.
4) Make sure the update is installing to the proper \holdem manager folder

Let me know if that works. If not, you may need to do a clean reinstall of HM. If you get to that point and want to try, and haven't heard from me yet, here are the instructions.

'Before you uninstall HM:

I want to re-install Holdem Manger without losing all of my settings and preferences. Can this be done? - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=98

You want to make sure you backup your Processed/Archived hand histories, your entire \config folder, and your exportednotes file. http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/?f=119. I usually just copy my entire \Holdem Manager directory.

I would also make sure you manually export the database to hand history text files:

HM > Options > Database Management > Connect > Export Hands

How do I export or import hands into and from Holdem Manager? - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173

Make sure you copy that folder as well as the other stuff I mentioned.

This helps to insure that if anything goes wrong with the backup/restore, you can manually import the exported files to rebuild.

1) Make a backup of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder, and any other important files mentioned earlier.
2) Uninstall HM with www.revouninstaller.com using the Moderate or Deep settings.
3) If given the option, on the 2 following screens of Revo, choose the Select All > Delete buttons to remove any registry entries and leftover files.
4) Reboot your computer
5) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
6) Download the latest patch HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe
7) Test if it for a while and see if it work
8) Close down Holdem Manager and copy the config folder from step 1 and copy and overwrite it to your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder, and import any notes and hands/database. Make sure you copy/paste the current \config folder before you overwrite it. If your old config folder causes problems, you can paste the default \config folder back in.
9) Test if it works again for a while

I have tried all of that and it hasnt seemed to make any difference at all. HM still works fine, it just appears that the HUD program doesnt work at all.

Although i exported all my hand histories and config files etc, i nebver actually had to reimport them or any other data into HM once i'd reinstalled it. During the reinstallation it came up with the message that HM has found some handhistories on my computer and that it will use them. so this makes me think i havnt actually had a clean uninstall at all, as it just loads up as before after all of this but with Hud still not working?

Close HEM and the HUD. Delete the config\prefs.xml file and then restart HEM.

Sorry about that. I think I had you put the problem right back in by copying your entire \config folder back in.

Mike, is that typically the cause of a blank player preferences panel? Corrupt prefs.xml?
