View Full Version : Problem with PostgreSQL

When I try to run HEM, I'm getting an error that says;

Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by remote host.

What started this was trying to go back and run PT3. It couldn't connect to the local server and I was told to edit the file pg_hba.conf in the PostgreSQL configuration folder and change the last lines from 'md5' to 'trust'.

I did this and while it didn't fix the problem with PT3, I ran HEM to just make sure nothing screwed it up and it opened fine.

Then I turned off my computer and turned it back on and got the above error message. What can I do? I'd really appreciate any help ASAP. I can't even play online until this is corrected. Thanks.

This message normally is a firewall / security software problem. You need to configure exceptions for postgresql and Holdemmanager.

Thanks. I thought of this too. So I turned my firewall off and thought I solved the problem when I was able to access my current HEM databse. But it STILL wouldn't allow me to create a new database. And just now while I was attempting to duplicate the problem so I could give you the error code, it won't let me access the current databse again (same problem as before)!!!!

Seriously, I'm going out of my mind here. I've wasted all day on this. I'm thinking of just uninstalling HEM and postgreSQL and re-installing them. I'm so pissed I don't even care if I lose all my data. I just don't want to waste any more time on this. Where do I get my registration code to put in the new HEM if I re-download it? Should I download postgreSQL before or after downloading HEM? Thanks.

You should start with uninstalling your firewall / security software there is no need for reinstallation postgresql or holdemmanager.
But if you do so you can use your key again.

If you need further help we can arrange a teamviewer session:
Please schedule a remote support session with our support manager. Email fabio@holdemmanager.net, with a link to this thread and your forum name, so he can setup a Teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) session.

Thanks netsrak,

I think I solved the problem by turning the UAC off in Vista. Everything seems to be working fine now. I even created a new database, which was my goal in the first place. I do have one other quick question....

I don't see any way to delete a database. I would think it would be in the same section as the create new database in. I'd like to clean up and get rid of the databases I'm not using. Thanks.
