View Full Version : HEM won't connect to Postgres after reformat
Hello. I reformatted my laptop earlier today, but before doing so, I backed up my files, including my HEM and Postgres folders. I did this by just dragging and dropping the files from my laptop hdd to an external hdd. Earlier, after reformatting, I dragged and dropped the files from the external hdd back to my laptop hdd. When trying to open HEM, it's saying it cannot connect to Postgres. Is there any easy fix to this? Or do I have to redownload everything and reimport all of my files? I already have HEM on a desktop and laptop, so I have used 2 keys already. Plz let there be an ez fix?
If you need any other information at all, just let me know, and I will gladly provide it. Thanks.

You have to reinstall your Postgresql software (copying is not a valid backup for such programs): http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177
For resetting your license you can use our registration system: http://www.holdemmanager.net/Registration
I downloaded the postgres files, extracted, and ran the installer. When I get to the Initialize database cluster screen, I type in my password, click next, and get this error:
Service check
The 'Secondary Logon' service is not running. This service is required for the installer to initialize the database. Please start this servce and try again.
I'm stuck at this point. =\
Help?
Also...how can I recover my serial number for HEM?
Edit: Fwiw, it does this when running postgresql-8.3-int.msi and postgresql-8.3.msi.

The secondary logon service is a standard windows service. You need to start it via windows services in the control panel -> administrative tools.
If you can't remember your HM key please contact sales@holdemmanager.net with your purchase details.
Thanks, everything seems to be working fine so far! :)
