When I try and open Holdem manager I keep getting

The following error occurred when trying to open the database: Failed to establish a connection to '127.0.0.1'.

Just wondering how do I fix this

This means that your postgresql service is not running. You find a lot about this in our FAQ http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34
http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

If the postgresql service doesn't start you can try to delete the hidden file postmaster.pid in the postgresql installation folder and try to restart the service.

Please come back if you need further help.

You can try a reinstall of sql.

Vista: Turn off UAC - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

For uninstalling SQL please follow these steps:

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) manually delete the Program Files\Postgresql folders
3) run the command - start > run > cmd >

net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.
5) install PostgreSQL again, with your firewall uninstalled or turned off if windows firewall, using these directions and the same postgresql version you used before.
