Are we talking about a fresh HM installation?

Which postgresql version did you use?
Which HM version?
Which operating system?

yes, a fresh installation. installed less than 24 hours ago. database composed of txt files and a restored backup file of a previous HM database from another pc.

postgres version 8.3

initially i installed current beta. tried uninstalling and reinstalling stable version. unsure where to verify which version is currently installed. I followed your forum walkthrough when performing this, so I would venture to guess I was successful in "downgrading" the version.

Vista Home Premium

Also, I have gone to extreme lengths to bypass any user/admin authorization problems, raised/lowered firewalls, as well as dis/re- enabled virus protection. Vac'ed, Analyzed, & Reindexed the database. Nothing thus far seems to help.

Also worth mentioning, is that I am currently running the un-authenticated trial version, as I have not attained the serial code to register. I hope that it does not, but understand this may have some influence over my problem.

The installation must always start with the full version 1.08.04: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip

When this is installed and running you can update to the latest Beta 1.09.23a: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

You see the version number in the header of the main Holdemmanager window (isn't so hard to find isn't it?)

I have successfully installed the latest beta. The small temporary database I have created seems to work fine. Although, The initial database that is approx. 1.5 million hands still has the same problems with player retrieval.

Export your old DB to text files, and import them tot he new DB.

http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173

Once you are sure the new DB is accurate, you can delete the old DB.

http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=21

Then it will be wise to vacuum, reindex, defrag, etc.

I also recommend turning off logging and deleting any logs.

All that is explained here - http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11194

Unfortunately, when trying to export the old database, I received the same error message for "no equivalent" during the export process.

That being so, I am wary that after I go through the several hour process of importing the old database into the new and currently working database, that the time will have been wasted and the error persistent.

The import process will only read "valid" hands so you can try it. It will not damage the new database.

And you should import the hands in small portions of some files step by step.
