Is there anyway to delete the custom date ranges from the bottom of the dates list once they have been entered .

If you are in the filter section of the program, you can click the "clear filters", this should clear the dates from the report that is being run, but the dates remain at the bottom so you can run that date range again.

As for clearing the date listing at the bottom of the drop-down menu "x" number of last custom dates will stay there.
