Hi,

So this morning I couldnt open hold em manager, and was getting a known error discussed in http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7470 this thread. Now, i unistalled/reinstalled, and when i go to enter my product key, and i click activate online now, it says successful and when I click "OK", my computer instantly freezes and becomes unresponsive. So now, i cant finish registering hold em manager and cant use it because when i try to enter my product key my entire computer freezes and i need to manually reboot. Help please !

The thread is one year old. This is no common problem.

Please give us some details about your system.

Please try updating to the latest beta version from the link in my signature.

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot. http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

If that doesn't help, please answer and post these questions: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=174

Vista? Is UAC still off? Windows Firewall Off? All 3rd party firewalls uninstalled? Windows Defender off?

Ok it wasn't a UAC problem and i dont have a firewall on. I run vista 64 bit, however ive been using holdem manager for almost a year now and ive never had any problems until today.

1) What version of Holdem Manager are you using eg 1.06.04 Beta 12?

I run the latest stable version, and i tried the lastest beta version too and that doesnt work either.

None of these other questions are relevant since i cant get it to run at all since my computer freezes when i try to reregister, and it was all working prior to a few hours ago.

8) If your using Vista have you UAC disabled?

It is disabled.

9) Have you attached the holdemmanager.config file?

I attached the file.

Thanks if anyone can help, as i'd really like to play soon.

The only thing I can think to try is to reinstall .net framework.

1. Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Software and uninstall every Microsoft .NET Framework you can find in the list
2. Install this one: http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/0/e/20e90413-712f-438c-988e-fdaa79a8ac3d/dotnetfx35.exe

I am going to forward this to the developer, marked urgent, for a reply, if you want to wait before trying that.

Hopefully the developer will reply this evening, because right now the only thing I could suggest would be for me to do a remote support session and try a reinstall of HM myself. It's not a lengthy process, so if you would like me to try it sometime this evening, please email me at fozzy@holdemmanager.net, with a link to this thread, and your forum name, so we can schedule a Teamviewer session. Download and install the www.Teamviewer.com software using all the default settings.

Hi, did you install the full .net framework 3.5 installation?

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6

If that doesn't work then I'm really confused -it does seem like the type of error that some kind of windows or .net file corruption would cause

The only thing I didn't check or try, because I had suggested it earlier in this thread, was the .net framework. It was the first time I had encountered a bug like that. Totally crashes the computer when he hits OK during the registration process. :(

yea, its alright. I guess I'll just try reformatting. I want to try out windows 7 anyway. That should work at the very least, right?

There are people using W7 and HM, yes. There are a couple threads here about it.

that reminds me, I really need to do a reformat also, so I can get a couple more months out of this PC. :p
