Weird Problem

I just installed HEM on a new computer and couldn't find this issue in the FAQ.

"the following error occurred when trying to initalize the Holdem Manager database: ERROR 22023: new encoding (SQL_ASCII) is incompatible with the encoding of the template database (UFT8)"

I just installed postgres 8.4, too... I think it may have something to do with that...?

If you want to try 8.4 read the sticky at the top of the forum - http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12925

Otherwise stick with 8.3 for now.

You need to export any databases to text files, as well as make sure you have backups of your archive/processed files. You can not use the DB from your 8.4 installation in 8.3. You will have to import all the HH text files.
