I'm running 1.09 beta 20, on vista, when i launch the HUd either via starting an auto import or clicking re-launch hud or directly clicking on the HMhud icon in the Holdem Manger directory, windows reports an error. This gives the standard error report saying "a problem caused the program to stop working" and HMhud does not start. I have added both the holdem manager and hmhud exe to the list of exceptions in my anti virus software (Bitdefender) with no change.

I have attached my config file and have tried re-starting HM and re-booting with no joy. Any help appreciated, note I just updated to 1.09 beta 20 from an earlier 1.08 version where the hud worked.

Just to add i have tried runninh Hmhud as administrator and UAC is off

1) What version of Holdem Manager are you using?

1.09.20

2) a. What poker site are you playing on and does the problem occur on more than one site?

b. Have you clicked on the Start Auto Import button?

a. PS, Ab
b. yes

3) Check to see if the hand histories are showing up in the correct folder.

fine

4) If the hand histories are not showing up in the folder, then go back to the FAQ, as they should show you how to check the settings in the lobby to configure the poker site to save the Hand History and make sure its sending the Hand Histories to the correct location. Contact your poker site if your unsure to find out where you can set the location of the hand histories to save to.

fine

5a) If the hand histories show up in the auto import folders, but they're not importing into the database, please create a new database and try importing some hands to test if it's a corrupt database.

importing in DB fine

6) Have you tried the Table Finder and did it work?

dont use this but if it's in HMhud I cant access it at present

7) If you open the hand history files, are they written in English? Note that they should be.

yes

8) Make sure UAC is disabled and unselect it and restart if it is.

UAC is off

9) Please attach your holdemmanager.config file from C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder.

If that doesn't make the HUD start detecting properly again, can you please try to take screen shots of the Table Manager and the \Holdem Manager\Importing\HUD Data folder contents.

Shutdown all your security software/firewall etc. and try again to see if it makes a difference.

shutdown my security software and firewall and tried launching table manager with no success. I just get the windows error saying a problem caused the program to stop working.

I tried installing release 1.08.04 and got the same problem then reinstalled the latest beta with no change. Any other options?

I think a reinstall of Hm may be the simplest solution. Perhaps netsrak has some other suggestions, so you may want to wait for him to reply again.

Before you uninstall HM:

I want to re-install Holdem Manger without losing all of my settings and preferences. Can this be done? (http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=98)

You want to make sure you backup your Processed/Archived hand histories (typically C:\HMArchive), your entire \config folder, and your exportednotes file. I usually just copy my entire \Holdem Manager directory.

If you have any custom HUD configs, export them, just in case you need them later - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=169

Export your HM Notes - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=119

I would also make sure you manually export the database to hand history text files - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173

This helps to insure that if anything goes wrong you can manually import the exported files to rebuild if necessary.

Most of these previous things you shouldn't need for this reinstall, but it's better safe than sorry.

Vista: Turn off UAC - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

When reinstalling HM, install the full setup, then the latest beta patch and finally your config folder if you want to use your previous hud configs.

1) Make a backup of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder, and other important files mentioned earlier.
2) Uninstall HM with Revo Uninstaller
3) Go to Program Files and delete the RVG Software directory, or the equivalent for Vista
4) Reboot your computer
5) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
7) Download the latest patch HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe
8) Test if it for a while and see if it work
9) Close down Holdem Manager and copy the config folder from step 1 and copy and overwrite it to your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder, and import any notes and hands/database.
10) Test if it works again for a while
