It takes a lot longer than HM1 to get started and it laggs a lot when multitabling (PS at least), while HM1 works perfect. Is this going to remain the same? Is this happening to you guys?

Same problem. HM2 is very slow compared to HM1.

Yeah it's the same for me, have reverted to HM1 until it improves (hopefully it will!)

HM2 caches hands into memory to enhance the performance of the HUD and reports.

If you're having trouble with performance,

Make sure windows is fully updated until 'No New Important Updates are Found' (this may require multiple restarts), including Internet Explorer (even if you use a different web browser).

Uninstall your current NetFramework version with this tool: http://videos.holdemmanager.com/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip

or for XP / Vista: http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/0/e/20e90413-712f-438c-988e-fdaa79a8ac3d/dotnetfx35.exe

Download .NET Framework 4: Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Web Installer) (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=9cfb2d51-5ff4-4491-b0e5-b386f32c0992&displaylang=en)

Reinstall HM2.

If you continue to have performance issues:

Please send a log file to hm2support@holdemmanager.com with a link to this thread.

+1 I have all the updates.
HM2 have always been slow since beta.

It makes no sense that HM1 works well, while HM2 doesn't. It's a software (Hm2) design issue.

That said, I'm running Core i7 3.4GHZ 8GB RAM SSD drive, there is nothing that I can't run so it's definitely HM2 issue.

Same here...question is: Is there someone that can run smoothly with Hm2?

Many of us run HM2 smoothly, and have said so before. People with problems are obviously the most vocal, so it's not unusual to see complaints without many counter claims that people are running fine. The fact that thousands of people are using HM2 by now and only a relative handful are reporting issues, would seem to indicate the major problems are isolated to certain combinations of systems, HM2 configurations, poker clients, etc.

That said, there's too many of you reporting performance problems to discount the issue entirely, so obviously there's something going on. Do you by chance have the two Notes Caddy options enabled in HUD settings? As I posted in the NC forum last night, I discovered what may be a performance issue with it. I've had NC disabled for most of the alpha and beta cycle due to an early problem. I had never gotten used to NC so didn't really miss it. After activating my full HM2 license last night and updating to the latest build, I noticed in my HUD settings that the NC options were still disabled, so I turned them back on and restarted HM2. While only 2 tabling on Merge, I saw one CPU core was pegged at 100% (for an overall 25% CPU utilization on my quad core) and I had a couple of laggy moments on the tables I was playing. The NC dev said 30% CPU utilization was normal while creating notes -- but 30% could kill some lesser systems especially if multi-tabling, if NC isn'tactively scaling its load to the available CPU. Also, when I attempted to exit HM2, it appeared to exit but my HUD kept running and CPU stayed at 25% -- I had to kill HM2 in Task Manager. I hadn't had either issue before enabling NC.

So if you have NC enabled, try disabling to see if your performance problems clear up. If so, post about it in the NC forum. Although integrated, NC is a separate product from HM2 with a separate developer.

I can confirm that my performance was absolutely horrible I couldnt even play 2 tables on Merge - I tried all the suggestions & nothing worked... Until I turned off NoteCaddy in the HUD. With NoteCaddy and HM2, both CPU's were 100%. Turn off NC, now all is well. Sorta. It's still a bit "laggy", even woth NC off. I was even able to re-enable auto-refresh and not much changed. I did notice that everytime a hand finishes, both CPU spike to about 60% which seems pretty bad just for importing 1 hand. This could cause issues running lots of tables.

FWIW - when I unchecked notecaddy in the HUD config, it told me I had to restart HM2, so I closed the application. However, the holdemmnager.exe remained active including the HUD. I waited a while, then just killled it with process viewer.

My conclusion is that HM2 is not as bad as origianally thought and that the majority of perf. issues are caused by NoteCaddy. I'm still sticking with HM1 for now as I feel very srtongly that this product was released before it's time. When it gets to where it should be, I'll take another look.

For those of you +1'ing, have you checked through the steps I linked? Are you running note caddy?

+1 doesn't get to the bottom of it. It actually just pushes the thread away from threads we're answering, since we work oldest to newest.

Answer the steps I listed and whether or not you're using note caddy so we can figure it out.

I'm dealing with this issue as well. Things run pretty smoothly with a handful of tables, but get slower and slower the more tables I add to my pool. I'm usually 20-tabling or so.

I don't have NoteCaddy turned on and I have turned off 'Refresh Automatically' in settings.
I've also uninstalled and then reinstalled NetFramework.
The only thing I haven't done is reinstall HEM2 because that's a pretty big disruption for me. I'll probably try this next, though.

I've already sent some log files in and heard back from someone who suggested un-checking the Refresh Automatically option. I'd be more than happy to send in more log files with various things checked or unchecked if that would help get to the root of this.

Please try opening sessions ribbon and choosing a previous session.

Send us a log file after that and a report on the performance.

Does the lag happen every mouse movement? Every 1-2 seconds, every 5 seconds, every 30? Every hand import? Is there a certain time when it starts to happen?

What is HM2's screen on when you guys are playing?

The more descriptions and information you all can give us, the easier we can track it down.

I've noticed HM2 getting a little laggier (?) with the last 2-3 updates, but it's real hard to put a finger on something specific. I've followed udbrky's advice and updated my Win XP and dot net framework. The dot net patch helped quite a bit, but that was a couple of HM2 patches ago and things are again slowing. I don't multi more than 3 tables, have a core 2 duo with 4Gb RAM and standard HD. All my poker stuff is in a VM with postgres running on a linux network drive.

HM2 is slow after initial load when it's creating all those ribbons; this is to be expected on my system. So I started looking for when things grind to a halt and found that IF my system is going to lock/freeze it's going to do it when the cards are being dealt on Pokerstars; not always, but if there's a freeze this is when it happens.

I'm a cash PLO player so the card dealing sequence is twice as long as holdem. It's probably also about the same time that HM2 is reading the last HH and updating the DB. Also, since upgrading to 5623 HM2 has on 4 occasions now 'lost the connection' to the DB during play. Never happened b4.

This might all be smoke and mirrors, but I hope it helps.

Thank you, that is extremely helpful and I have passed it along to the programmers to see what we need next.

One thing comes to mind. Do you have animation on or off on Stars?

Also, please try the steps I mentioned in the above post.

Can you also try this, choose a different alias for a player currently not playing like an alias from another site, does it improve or solve the lagging issue?

Pokerstars animation: Simplified.

Played one session (2 tables) for about 1 hour (no lags), then took 20 minute break, started playing again and within 10 minutes noticed lags starting to creep in. First freeze (each 'freeze' lasts 3-4 seconds) occured 20 minutes into second session (also 2 tables); mouse also froze. HM2 was sitting on Cash Results Graph (filtered for all games, today) but minimized.

Started udbrky's suggestions:
Loaded Reports Cash Session report. Noticed date filter was set for today, changed it to All and HM2 froze and locked poker clients, mouse movable but not clickable (yes it is, just veryy slow). System froze for approx 50 seconds. Highlighted an old session and tried to continue. HM2 and poker clients froze again. Clients came back after about 2 minutes, HM2 remained locked for further minute or so. Set date filter for 'this week' and highlighted an older session. Recommenced playing. After 10 or so minutes, lag back into card dealing sequence.

Opened Task Manager and highlighted holdemmanger.exe. Current mem usage 270Mb, cpu 0-1%. Normally the mem usage is around 180Mb so I guess the extra is because of the new sessions tab on ribbon. Deal sequence froze again, mem remained constant, CPU spiked to high 90s.

Do not like sessions tab on ribbon. Removed it and prepared for morney's suggestion.

Started morney's suggestion:
Created an alias based on an old full tilt opponent and recommenced playing. Mem usage has dropped to 160Mb. Played for 40 minutes or so, HM2 ran smooth as silk. CPU useage never more than 7%.

Where do I send the log file?

too slow!!!!
I have a very big database.when I start hm2,the NC auto create notes, and I can do nothing(stop NC,the hm2 will die) ,only I can do is kill HM2 in Task Manager.
I should stop postgresql,and start hm2,then start postgresql,change hm2 database to a small database,and stop NC.and then I can use HM2
