My HEM actually broke on me about 9 months ago but I didn't really care at the time as I was experimenting with playing w/out a HUD (I play mtts). Then Black Friday hit....and then it didn't really matter.

But now I want it back, specifically to start playing cash games. Which is all besides the point I'm sure.

I updated to the newest config, 1.12.05, and the program won't progress beyond the "initializing database" pop up. I've read through the faq quite a bit, I have no idea what the problem is. Please help. Thank you.

I'm running windows 7 if that helps.

This can take a while, depending on your DB size/computer specs. You'll want to post in the HM1 section in the future, rather than the HM2 section.

Well look I don't really want to mess around with this very much. Is it possible for me to just uninstall HEM and the database and start over from scratch with HEM2 yet? Is it available yet? Will I get a discount of some sort on it?

Anything in particular I should pay attention to while uninstalling everything? Thank you.

HM2: full installer @ http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_2_Setup.exe
Every existing HM1 owner will receive some sort of discount towards HM2 ranging from 30%, 50% up to 100%* (*if HM1 was purchased after may 1th 2011)

HM1: Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate.exe
try running dbcontrolpanel.exe. Create a NEW database--> Start HM.

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin"from the compatibility tab.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe, even if the firewall is turned off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily.

Make sure your video card drivers and windows auto updates are fully updated. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (or later for w7) installed.

I've uninstalled HM1 and downloaded HM2, I also uninstalled the postsql 10.x (sorry not sure which it was) but now when installing HM2 it is telling me that there is an error in that postsql 8.3 is installed though it doesn't appear in my programs list. When I do a search for it on my comp a file comes up but I'm not able to delete it for some reason... can you tell from this what I'm doing wrong, how to fix it? I'm really not super computer literate and just want to get to using HEM as quickly as possible as again. thanks for any help.

Turn on the secondary Logon. The secondary logon service is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services. Starting it once should insure it works in the future also.

Try SQL 8.2: PostgreSQL: Choose a Mirror (http://wwwmaster.postgresql.org/download/mirrors-ftp/binary/v8.2.21/win32/postgresql-8.2.21-1.zip)
