hey,
i purged a bunch of hands last night and tried to vacuum analyze in pgadmin3 to free up some space but the program keeps stalling, saying that ive no disk space remaining
i have like 50mb left when running the program, any idea how much i should need? to vacuum analyze say a 60gig database..

i could transfer the whole database to a bigger hard drive i guess but was hoping there was a quicker fix

To fully vacuum/analyse... or reindex.. or backup a 60 GB database. You need about 30-60 GB of free disk space.

60 GB!? Check if you can delete the log files in the Program Files/PostgreSQL/8.4/data/pg_log folder.
Or move the entire data folder to a bigger drive: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/368/MoveDatabaseToAnotherHardDriveOrPartition
