Use Beta 18a: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

and crosscheck all your handhistory settings and the Vista Administrator settings for Holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe

And if that doesn't help please check and post the answers of this FAQ: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=174

Please try to close HM and FTP, and manually clean out your FTP hand history folder before you restart FTP/HM.

Did the HUD work properly when you created the new DB? If so, export your old DB and import it to the new DB.

If the HUD still isn't working, please update to 1.09 beta 19. Before you begin your session, go to HUD Options > Tables Preferences > Enable Logging. Then take screen shots of the Table Window (even if no HUD is displayed), the Table Manager, and the contents of the \Holdem Manager\Importing\HUD Data folder. After you finish the session you can turn off the logging. If Mike decides he wants the logs after seeing the pics, they will be easily accessible.

Your database seems to be corrupt somehow. HM can't read the saved hands because of this problem.
Do you have a backup of your database or your pokerhands?

You should run a chkdsk over your harddisk and if it is fixed start with a new holdemmanager database: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=146

i just ran the chkdsk utility over my whole C: drive. Does this mean that i have to start over with a complete new database?

Yes, create a new database, restore the latest backup, reimport all handhistories you have saved and use this database for the future. If everything runs fine you can delete your original database: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=21
