View Full Version : HEM 2 slows down iPoker to a crawl

When using HEM 2 and playing on iPoker, the iPoker software slows to a crawl. There is a second or 2 lag between any mouse clicks or hotkeys being recognized. Is there a way to improve the performance of these through priorities or affinities?

I have Windows 7 (64-bit) OS with 6GB of RAM and a 2.67 GHz Intel i7 CPU. Everything works smoothly when I use HEM 1.

Thanks.

I am experiencing this as well when I try to open or play with the Sessions tab open. This was pretty bad in 5300 but impossible now. The ipoker client freezes and is unusable until I close the sessions tab. This happens even with just a couple of tables open.

Guys is this something that happens sporadically, is it only when sessions tab is running, can you easily reproduce it or is it only after a long session? If you open task manager when it happens what is the average Holdemmanager.exe CPU% and also what is the ave usage for casino.exe

I actually play here myself sometimes and i had a similar issue a while back and was googling and a lot of the threads refer to the ipoker client having a memory leak sometimes, at the time my casino was using up to 80% and this was causing the issue. Apparently Ipoker acknowledged the problem long time back and said they would address it and the problem existed regardless of what tracker you used, anyway i just want to rule out this not being the issue and get some more feedback so i can reproduce

Hi Morny,

My apologies for not responding before now. This is occuring whenever I am sitting at an ipoker table and have auto-import running. The ipoker application hangs for a brief period any time I try to do anything with the HM2 client. HM2 is using about 309mb and ipoker 198mg (for one table). The numbers don't change signifcantly but Performance does.

It has only been this bad for the last two weeks.

I think that as no-one else seems to be experiencing this issue I might drop you a direct message for some assistance.

I was experincing this same thing on Merge (Carbon). There was a 2+ second delay (and delays of over 10 seconds were not rare) from the time it was my action until anything responded(even visually - meaning the poker client UI didn't even add the action buttons during the delay). At first I thought it was due to the report/tab I had open, but even if I left it on the home with no gadgets it had this issue. The problem got exponentially worse as I added tables. With 4 tables open, 5+ second delays were not uncommon. I switched back to HM1 because of this issue.

I did do a bit of investigation and both CPU's would spike to 100% on very regular intervals which **seemed** to correspond the the completion of a hand (triggering import?) on one of the tables. Overall HM2 CPU would hover between 25-50% with ram of about 500-600mb. Not at all related to length of session - it happend from the minute I fired up the tables.

The lastbuild I ran was 5300. My setup is 4GB ram, AMD Turion X2, Win7 64. With HM1, things run smooth as silk. Overall performance was terrible even when not playing. I was quite suprized when I saw that the product was released.

@Bluwave - that pretty much matches my symptoms and my limited investigation also ties it to the auto-import action. I was one of the early Alpha testers (and have been using HM2 daily since May) and wasn't getting this serious of a problem until about two weeks ago.

Did you report the issue and/or supply any logs etc.?

Unfortunately I am unable to contact Morny directly but hopefully he will see this thread - I am happy to help with any investigation required.

I used the early alpha releases but not extensively. I picked it back up in early September and, as you indicate, it worked fine then. Within the past couple of weeks, the performance went from barely acceptable to completely unplayable. I downloaded the latest version just this morning and it's at least as bad as it was last time I played it with 5300. The user experience and performance issues are just completely unacceptable. I realize that HM2 is "doing more" than HM1, but if it cant do it well, then there is no point. I could deal with the terribly slow application performance when changing tabs, running reports, etc... but when it impacted my in-game experience it was time to stop using it. I'm not planning to use it for in-game play again any time soon. The performance issues at play here aren't going away anytime soon.

I did actually experience a couple of complete HM2 crashes while playing and reported the issue each time, with logs.

For now I'm sticking with HM1. If anything, I'll look at competing products to see what they can bring to the table.

Also, here are some steps to take to fix performance issues:
