View Full Version : Auto import keeps making errors

Hello,

Yesterday i downloaded HEM(1.08.04) and it initially worked fine. When i looked for a better layout i came across this thread:

http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4166

I downloaded the settings, and accidently 'updated' my HEM to 1.06.04 rc3, and i think this is the reason everything went wrong. After this i couldnt get HEM to work anymore. I downloaded the most recent updates, uninstalled and reinstalled everything, tried all the troubleshooting steps but it all failed.

Now, with 1.09 beta 17 and everything set up properly according to the set up guide for my poker site, i can see my poker tables on table manager, but apart from the name no stats are displayed (0/10 players, etc). Auto import constantly gives an error with each hand and no hand comes through.

Any ideas?

Greetings, Matthijs

Can you give some more details by answering these questions please. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=174

Also make sure UAC is off and your firewall is setup properly.

Vista: Turn off UAC - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

Turn off Windows Firewall for installing HM and PostgreSQL. Once you get those installed you can add exceptions to the firewall. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

I am not sure if the downgrade/upgrade could cause this or not, but if a reinstall of HM is necessary, it is a relatively simple process.

1) Make a backup of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder
2) Uninstall HM via the Control Panel
3) Go to Program Files and delete the RVG Software directory, or the equivalent for Vista
4) Reboot your computer
5) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
7) Download the latest patch HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe
8) Test if it for a while and see if it work
9) Close down Holdem Manager and copy the config folder from step 1 and copy and overwrite it to your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder
10) Test if it works again for a while

I think you have to create a new database in the database management of the latest beta. Try to import the hands in this database

1) HM trial 1.09 beta 17. Table manager 1.09.15
2)A I am playing on William Hill poker. I justed tested with pokerstarts, same problems there!
2)B Yes
3)Checked already
4)C:\Poker\William Hill POKER CLUB\History\W2R119485912\Table
5)The hands dont get imported!
5a)Creating a new database didnt work
6)No use i think, table manager isnt working properly(table manager notices the right name, but furthermore no stats whatsoever). When table finder is activated, it says 'i cannot find any unattached hands'
7)The files written under link at 4) are written in English
8)I am not running Vista, but XP
9)Attached

Furthermore, i am not running vista, and i am not running a firewall right now.
I tried the reinstall process but this didnt work either.

Thanks for your quick replies guys.

creating a new database doesnt solve the problems either unfortunately.

Please change the HM - Auto-Import folder to C:\Poker\William Hill POKER CLUB

Delete all files in the subfolders of this folder (or move them to a different folder) and start the import again.

Can you manually import files via import file or folder?

Changed to C:\Poker\William Hill POKER CLUB and deleted all the hand history data in the william hill table folder, if thats what you meant. Still the same problems.

After this i tried to open the xml-document in HEM manually with 'import file' and 'import from folder', but this didnt work either.

I will ask our support manager if the downgrade/upgrade incident can be catastrophic. As soon as he replies to me I will let you know. If so, it may be necessary to reinstall HM.

The downgrade may have damaged your postgresql database. There were a lot of changes to the PostgreSQL Schema from 1.06 to 1.08+. You may have to reinstall PostgreSQL instead of (or in addition to) your HM installation. Here are a set of complete instructions, if you have to go that route.

Before you uninstall HM:

I want to re-install Holdem Manger without losing all of my settings and preferences. Can this be done? (http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=98)

How do I re-install PostgreSQL and use a previous database? (http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177)

How do I backup and restore my database? (http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=12)

How do I export or import hands into and from Holdem Manager? (http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173)

You want to make sure you backup your Processed/Archived hand histories, your entire \config folder, and your exportednotes file. (http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/?f=119) I usually just copy my entire \Holdem Manager directory.

I would also make sure you manually export the database to hand history text files:

HM > Options > Database Management > Connect > Export Hands

Make sure you copy that folder as well as the other stuff I mentioned.

This helps to insure that if anything goes wrong with the backup/restore, you can manually import the exported files to rebuild.

For uninstalling SQL please follow these steps:

-Download Revo Uninstaller and use it to uninstall PostgreSQL. After it uninstalls it will give you options to select and delete all the associated registry entries.
- manually delete the Program Files\Postgresql folders
- run the command - start > run > cmd >

net user postgres /delete

- reboot.
- install again, with your firewall uninstalled or turned off if windows firewall

Logging:

I would suggest you turn off logging on your new SQL installation as well as these other performance improvements - Top 10: HEM performance increase tips
(http://208.109.95.123/forum/showthread.php?p=62613&posted=1#post62613)

To turn off logging, follow these instructions. This is the first thing I do anytime I install SQL for someone.

- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > UnCheck 'Hide Extensions for known file types' > OK

- C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\data\postgresql.conf > Right-Click > Open With.. > NotePad > Check 'Always use this program'

- Scroll about half way down to ~Lines 245 - 260:

- The last line of this block of code, for the 'logging_collector', must be changed from On to Off.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# ERROR REPORTING AND LOGGING
#------------------------------------------------------------------------------

# - Where to Log -

log_destination = 'stderr' # Valid values are combinations of
# stderr, csvlog, syslog and eventlog,
# depending on platform. csvlog
# requires logging_collector to be on.

# This is used when logging to stderr:
logging_collector = off # Enable capturing of stderr and csvlog

File > Save; File > Close

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL 8.3 > Reload Configuration.

*edit:
- Start > My Computer > C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\data\pg_log, or C:\Program Files (x86)\PostgreSQL\data\pg_log, if you have 64 bit Vista. Delete all files in that folder. And it might be a good idea to empty your recycle bin at that point, or use a 3rd party utility like CCleaner to clean up all your junk/temporary files. You want to do this before you get to the vacuum and defrag process.

Installing HM:

When reinstalling HM, install the full setup, then the latest beta patch and finally paste in your config folder. Then the only thing left would be importing your exported notes. Your HUD should be the same as it was.

I reinstalled HEM and PostgreSQL, followed all your instructions, except for the backup /config part, because it was empty anyways. But this didnt help either.. still the same import errors in HEM, and still table manager which seems to only detect the name of the poker table

I also turned off logging, no effect.

The problem are the import errors. No Import no HUD.

Is there an option in the WH Client to change the layout of the handhistory files?
Are the generated files readable for you? In an editor for example?

Is there an option in the WH Client to change the layout of the handhistory files?
- No, only one option that has to do with HH files, which is 'store hand history locally', and that option is turned on.

Are the generated files readable for you? In an editor for example?
- Yes. If i double click the .xml documents, i can read them properly. I added a document for you to check.

I have no clue.
Please schedule a remote support session with our support manager. Email fabio@holdemmanager.net, with a link to this thread and your forum name, so he can setup a Teamviewer session.

Will this session be soon? Because my trial is running.. Days are passing by and i really want to try this software before buying it.

Has this problem been solved in any way, because I have the same one. Table manager only sees the table but can't recognize which type of table it is (full ring/six max/heads up) and doesn't see any players sitting (I think here lies the main problem), hands importing recognizes the creation of an hand once it finishes but gives 2 mistakes for hand and thus hands don't get saved in the database. This problem emerged since the middle of july, everything was working fine before on 1.08.04. I updated today to the last version but nothing changed. Tried to contact William Hill support, but obviously they didn't wanted to give any detail about any possible change of the software. If you need any help to solve this problem, I am available for a teamviewer session if you need it.

Can you please start a new thread explaining your problems, and answer these questions. (http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=174)

Then we will try to determine if a teamviewer session is best, or if we should have the hands emailed to the developer.
